How Reddit stock mentions are counted
Every four hours we read the newest posts on r/wallstreetbets, r/stocks, r/investing, r/StockMarket, r/pennystocks, r/options, and match each title and post against the US symbols of the 1000 tickers on our ticker list. A $CASHTAG always counts. A symbol in capitals counts when it is not also an everyday word, so GAP and COST need the dollar sign. A post counts once per company it names, and a company's total is the number of posts that named it, never a sum of repeats.
The change column compares the 7 days before, and stays blank until we have read all of them. Each ticker has its own page with the daily history and the posts behind the count, linked from the tables above. Who posted is never stored or shown.

- We count Reddit posts and do not score their tone, because a guess at whether a post is bullish would be an estimate. For which way a crowd leans, the table on this page shows StockTwits' own sentiment score beside each Reddit count.
