How the WallStreetBets ticker count works
Every four hours we read the newest posts on r/wallstreetbets back to where the last read stopped, and the day's top posts to bring their scores up to date. Each post is matched against the US symbols of the 1000 tickers on our ticker list: a $CASHTAG always counts, a symbol in capitals counts when it is not also an everyday word, and one post counts once per ticker however often it repeats the name. The change column compares the same length of time just before, and stays blank until we have read the whole of that earlier period.
Scores are Reddit's own, as of our last read. Who posted is never stored or shown. For the same count across r/stocks, r/investing, r/StockMarket, r/pennystocks and r/options, see the most mentioned stocks on Reddit.
WallStreetBets mentions, questions
- What are the most mentioned stocks on WallStreetBets today?
- In the last 24 hours, DNUT (1 post), AMD (1 post) led the posts we read on r/wallstreetbets, among the 1000 US stocks and ETFs we track.
- How are WallStreetBets mentions counted?
- Every new post on r/wallstreetbets is read every four hours. A post counts once for each company it names by a cashtag ($TSLA) or by its symbol in capitals (TSLA). Common words that are also tickers, like COST or GAP, count only as cashtags. Comments are not read.
- Which stocks does this page cover?
- The 1000 US stocks and ETFs on Kovered: the S&P 500, the Nasdaq-100, the most-held ETFs, the stocks retail investors follow and the listed companies that own consumer brands. A ticker outside that list is not counted, so this is not every stock the subreddit talks about.
- Is this investment advice?
- No. These are counts of public Reddit posts. There is no share price, forecast or rating here, and a ticker being talked about is not a reason to buy or sell it.
Not investment advice. Kovered publishes StockTwits watcher, sentiment and message volume readings and counts of public Reddit posts that name a stock or ETF, plus, for listed consumer companies, readings of the brands they own. It does not publish share prices, forecasts, ratings or recommendations to buy, sell or hold anything. Do your own research. Read the full notice.
